Brent Gibson brings over 25 years of dedicated service and leadership experience from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. A Tennessee resident since 1992 and former Assistant Chief Deputy and SWAT Commander, he’s committed to protecting our community with integrity, experience, and fairness.

Meet Brent Gibson

Brent Gibson is a proud husband and father of two beautiful daughters. A lifelong public servant, Brent recently retired as Assistant Chief Deputy at the Knox County Sheriff’s Office after serving for more than two decades with honor. His career has been defined by leadership, integrity, and a commitment to building a safer, stronger future—especially through youth development and community mentorship.

Brent believes in leading by example, serving with transparency, and protecting our communities with fairness and respect.

A Career Built on Service & Leadership

Throughout his tenure at the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Brent held a number of key leadership roles, including:

  • Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, and ultimately Assistant Chief Deputy

  • Director of Training at the Knox County Sheriff’s Office Regional Training Academy

  • SWAT Team Commander for the Knox County Special Weapons and Tactics Unit

  • Graduate of the 260th FBI National Academy

  • Firearms and Defensive Tactics Instructor at the Regional Training Academy

A Commitment to Youth & Community

Brent’s service doesn’t stop at law enforcement. As a graduate of the University of Tennessee and a four-year letterman for the Tennessee Volunteers football team, Brent knows the value of hard work, teamwork, and mentorship.

He continues to give back by coaching student-athletes at Gibbs High School, where he serves as both a football coach and track coach, helping shape the next generation of leaders.
